When I meet someone who is sad and lonely, or more specifically someone who is sad about being lonely, I might say:

I feel sad that you feel sad about being so alone so much... I feel alone all the time, and sometimes feel very sad about it, but most of the time I lose myself in my imagination and words. I like it there.
